Table Card Program

Virginia Tech registered student organizations, colleges and departments may may participate in the Dining Center table card program to advertise student-related activities and events. Commercial advertising is not permitted.

Use GobblerConnect for access to the table card program

All organizations wishing to make table card reservations are now required to post their programs, news, or events in GobblerConnect before making their table card reservations.

First things first, you need to register with the table card program, using the login on the right hand menu. Your first login will register you with the program.

  • Table card reservations are made for a one-week period beginning on Monday and ending Sunday evening.
  • Each organization may make one reservation per week, in the available dining group of their choice using the Create Reservation link on the right.
  • Multiple events may be advertised on one card.
  • Organizations may not repeat a location for five weeks and may not advertise in more than one dining center reservation group per week.
  • Try to make your reservations early—prime weeks fill up fast.
  • Reservations already filled for the week(s) you need? Get on the wait list! Email tablecard@vt.edu with your request. Include the week you want to reserve, name of your group, and event name in your request.

These guidelines were created in order to allow as many groups as possible access to the table card program at any given time. We are always looking to improve the program. If you’d like to serve on an advisory group that meets once or twice a year, please contact us at tablecard@vt.edu.

If you have questions about the Table Card Program, contact us by:

  • Sponsoring organization name along with contact information (email, phone, website, or Facebook page) must be displayed.
  • Format for Display Dates: To assist dining staff in the removal of table cards, removal dates must be posted in the top right corner of the cards. Please use the following format “Remove xx/dd” indicating the Sunday of the end of your reservation.
  • Display dates need to be readable. The minimum printed size for the removal date is 10 pt. Arial. Please note if the proof you are submitting is going to be printed in a reduced size, this will also reduce the size of the font.
  • Cards must be 4.25” by 5.5”
  • Cards must be for a university-related event that is sponsored or provided by the organization, college or department.
  • Card content, including images, must be appropriate for general public viewing and be focused on events, activities, and opportunities that enhance education and foster an inclusive environment.
  • Cards will not be approved if they contain content that runs counter to Virginia Tech’s Principles of Community and its commitment to civility.
  • A table card proof must be uploaded for approval by 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday before the start of the reservation week.
  • If a proof is not submitted by that time, the reservation may be forfeited to an organization on the waiting list.
  • Your proof will need to be less than 3 MB in size and be one of the following file types:
    • .doc or .docx
    • .jpg or .jpeg
    • .pdf
  • You may upload one file to attach to each reservation. If your table card has two sides, upload one two-page document.
  • Before printing your cards, be sure to obtain proof approval.
  • Cards must be printed on a minimum of 65 lb. cardstock.
  • You can have table cards printed at any campus or local copy center.

  • Organizations are responsible for the distribution of their table cards to the dining centers.
  • Show the approval form to the dining center manager prior to distributing table cards.
  • Place table cards in the holders on the tables.
  • Recommended hours for distributing cards:
    • Mondays between 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. (Note: Turner Place, Owens Food Court, Hokie Grill & Co., and West End Market open at 10:30 a.m. For Squires Student Center Food Court, distribution can start at 8:00 a.m.)
    • Mondays between 1:30 and 4:00 p.m.
  • Do not distribute cards during main dining periods or busy times, as this is inconsiderate to our customers.
  • Table cards will be removed on Sunday evenings by dining center personnel.
  • Organizations that distribute unapproved table cards will lose reservation privileges for the remainder of the academic year.

Distribution of table cards without approval or that vary from the approved design may result in the loss of table card privileges for the remainder of the academic year.
