Image of family

Virginia Tech is proud to invite the families of first-year or incoming students to fall 2011 Family Day. The event welcomes new Hokies and their families at a time of year when campus is particularly beautiful and even the leaves turn orange and maroon.

During the spring semester, a larger, three-day event surrounding Relay for Life and the annual Virginia Tech spring football game will provide another fun weekend for all Hokies and their family members.

Family Day is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs and a grant from the Virginia Tech Parents Fund.

Activities

Below are some of the many activities you can enjoy while you’re here visiting your Hokie. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Commonwealth Ballroom of Squires Student Center. Finalized activity schedules will be available then. Don’t miss the Corps of Cadets’ magnificent Pass in Review on the university’s Drillfield at 10:30 a.m. This spectacular performance is always a family favorite. Academic departments will be having open house events, as well.

Parents as Partners Part II will give parents and families an opportunity to ask new questions that have arisen since the first session at summer orientation. Through this fun and exciting format, parents and families can get a glimpse of their student’s first few months at Virginia Tech.

At sometime during the day, Virginia Tech will play Wake Forest University (at Wake Forest) in one of our fast-paced football games. At that time, all families are invited to the Commonwealth Ballroom in Squires Student Center to watch the game on our wide-screen televisions. Snacks and drinks will be provided throughout the game to keep faithful fans cheering their loudest for a Virginia Tech victory. The time of the game will announced after October 3.
