Division of Student Affairs awards description

Division Mission:  The Division of Student Affairs promotes students’ academic success, personal growth, and development of life skills by creating ENVIRONMENTS, PROGRAMS, and SERVICES that support the university’s “teaching and learning” focus and its mission to “expand personal growth and opportunity, advance social and community development, foster economic competitiveness, and improve the quality of life.”

The Campus Community Award will be presented to the DSA employee or group of employees that emphasizes the development of community.  Criteria or qualities may include, but are not limited to:

  • contributes to a welcoming environment in the department, division, and/or university
  • builds supportive and inclusive communities
  • contributes to a just and caring campus
  • demonstrates respect and compassion for others
  • values and celebrates diversity
  • exemplifies the Principles of Community

 

The Program Award will go to the DSA employee or group of employees that plans and executes an outstanding program.  Criteria or qualities may include, but are not limited to:

  • engages students in active learning.
  • assists students to develop coherent values and ethical standards.
  • provides innovative or new programming
  • contributes to 1st year experience
  • supports the Principles of Community
  • promotes leadership development
  • enhances student health and wellness
  • promotes community service and citizenship

 

The Service Award will go to the DSA employee or group of employees that is dedicated to providing high quality service to students and contributes to a service needed for students to function successfully.  Criteria or qualities may include, but are not limited to:

  • enriches the quality of campus life
  • maintains and improves the condition of campus facilities
  • enhances services to students by suggesting better ways in which to perform work
  • creates and maintains a clean, safe campus environment
  • solicits and utilizes feedback from students in order to improve services
  • models and communicates a service orientation

 

The Partnership Award will go to the DSA employee or group of employees that succeeds with a collaborative effort or partnership across the division or university.  Criteria or qualities may include, but are not limited to:

  • forges educational partnerships that advance student learning
  • exemplifies teamwork across department, division, and/or university
  • serves as an ambassador for the Division of Student Affairs
  • collaborates with others from across the university
  • adheres to professional standards
  • demonstrates ethical behavior
  • utilizes resources collaboratively to achieve institutional missions and goals
