Samuel L. Camden
Associate Director of Administration
for Human Resources
Sam Camden is the associate director of human resources for the Division of Student Affairs. In his position, he is responsible for Human Resources support for the Division of Student Affairs in the areas of employment, recruitment, classification, compensation, workers compensation, unemployment, performance evaluations, employee relations, training, performance management, organizational development and community relations. He reports to the chief of staff and administration for the Division of Student Affairs. He serves on several university committees and is the college relations chair for the New River Society of Human Resource Management. Prior to joining Virginia Tech, Sam Camden worked for three Fortune 100 companies while in the private sector business. He has over 40 years Human Resources management experience with 12 years human resource management experience with Virginia Tech. He holds a bachelor of science from Virginia Tech and is a certified public manager.
Sam Camden is an active member of the National SHRM and is on the board for the New River Valley SHRM. He serves on the Alumni Board for Ferrum College. He is a member of the American Academy of Certified Public Managers. He is an active member of CUPA-HR. CUPA-HR provides global leadership to the higher education human resources profession and higher education community. Sam Camden also works in conjunction with the Department of Human Resources (DHRM) in Richmond and the Office of Human Resources (Southgate) at Virginia Tech.
